OPTIMAL LIFE CENTER
Workaholism
There are those among us that are destined to fall into the trap that society sets up. Through praise, recognition, monetary rewards and peer gratification some people build a reputation for being the best at their job. Eventually feelings of self-esteem, self-worth and self-confidence come totally from the job. The job turns into a fix to alter feelings just as any other addiction.
When emotions get altered by outside elements, and the result is pleasurable to us, we want to repeat the experience again and again. Some people repeat the same thing over and over again without consideration of any other part of their life. Family, friends, and outside interests are forgotten in the pursuit of the work place and the pleasure attained.
And pleasure is attained at first. People see the dedication to the job, the long hours, the sacrifice and the willingness to forego all else to be available to the beck and call of the business or the people that own the business.
We are all well aware of the demands that a new business makes on the proprietor, and in this era of small business, this is especially true. Long, dedicated and focused hours go into making a business succeed. When the owner has reached their goal and started to come to the place of relaxation, what prompts him/her to go on?
