The problem is that during times of stress we can also unknowingly create negative identities, which also operate under the surface. Any unwanted feeling or self defeating behavior is a sure sign that a negative identity is present, as is the presence of addictions, compulsions or bad habits, which are a simply an identity that is out of control.
